OWN A PIECE OF HISTORY - SECURE YOUR BRICK FROM THE ORIGINAL WATKINS MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL
This is your chance to purchase a brick from the original 1955 Watkins Memorial High School building. These bricks will only be available during a limited window of time and only through the Watkins Memorial Band Boosters. Proceeds from brick sales will go directly to the upcoming WMHS Band and Choir trip to London, England to perform in the 2026 London New Year's Day Parade.
Individual bricks are $20 each. Quantity discounts available for purchases of 20 bricks or more.
Demolition work on the building began on Monday, August 4th. Bricks will be available for pickup from main campus a few weeks after demolition is complete.
This building served our community in many capacities over the years. It opened in the mid-1950s as the original Watkins Memorial High School, as the previously-separate Pataskala, Etna, and Harrison Twp / Kirkersville schools were consolidated into the Southwest Licking School District. A detached Junior High addition was constructed shortly after opening, which was later connected to the main building. A back-and-forth in 1975 and 1980 saw WMHS and WMS swap locations between the original tan brick building and the new white block structure to its southwest. When WMHS moved into the newer white building the original structure became Watkins Middle School, a title it held thru the end of the 2021-2022 school year. The building then housed Kirkersville Elementary students thru the 2023-2024 school year, when its service to the community ended at the conclusion of SWL's building project.
